What’s New About the Iconic G-Class?
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an unmistakable off-road icon that lives up to its considerable reputation, but like any icon, to remain at the forefront of luxury SUVs, it must undergo a process of constant evolution. The latest iteration of the carefully evolved Geländewagen is the G 400 d, which takes the place of its illustrious predecessor, the G 350 d.
What’s new about the G 400 d?
The G 400 d marks the discontinuation of the G 350 d with three new model lines that sport an abundance of prominent features and upgrades.
- G 400 d Edition with 19” wheel design, MULTIBEAM headlights and 360 camera
- G 400 d AMG Line Premium with new standard trim and heated windscreen
- G 400 d AMG Line Premium Plus with new 20” wheel design, G-Manufaktur interior with multi-contour seats, ENERGIZING comfort and Air Ionisation
There has been another important change under the imposing bonnet. The old 286 hp engine has been replaced with a meaty in-line 6 cylinder diesel engine that produces 330 hp and propels you from 0-62 mph in just 6.4 seconds. That’s a full second faster than its predecessor. It also does so with reduced CO2 emissions - down from 288g/km to 281g/km - for a cleaner drive. There’s also a new simplified product offering, with a limited number of standalone options and packages. That includes a rear-seat entertainment package and a G-Manufaktur package available for the AMG Line Premium Plus that offers new and exclusive paints and upholsteries. The three new G 400 d models are available to order now from Mercedes-Benz showrooms across the South West, with customer production commencing in November 2020.
