Top Car Colours 2024
The colour of a car is often a contributing factor when it comes to buying a new car, and it's always interesting to see what the top car colours of the previous year has been.
We're taking a look at the most popular car colours purchased at our Mercedes-Benz South West dealerships, and exploring what your favourite car colour says about you!
What does your car colour say about you?
The colour of a person's vehicle does not necessarily say anything about their personality or character. Some people choose a certain colour for practical reasons, such as wanting a colour that is less likely to show dirt, while others choose a colour that they simply like or that matches the colour of their house. According to Hot Cars, the reason you choose a particular colour for your car may reflect your individual personality and how much you want to stand out from the crowd. The Daily Mail has also weighed in on what your car colour could say about you.
Black
Black has always been a popular colour, they’re elegant yet stylish and an all-time classic. According to Carmoola, “Black is the colour selected by people who want to convey authority. Black automobile drivers tend to be perfectionists and control freaks as well.”
31.5% of all cars sold by Mercedes-Benz South West this year were black, earning it the top spot on our most popular car colour. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-AMG GT sold exclusively in black this year, with no other colorus being chosen for these models.
Grey
On the other end of the spectrum, we have grey car owners, making up 27.1% of our models sold in 2024. These people would rather not be in the spotlight. They avoid attention in opposition to their red-car counterparts. “Owners of grey cars could have a more conservative outlook. They are measured, think things through, don't make rash decisions. Typically, they're not spontaneous."
The most popular models sold in grey were the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mercedes-Benz EQA, and Mercedes-Benz EQB. The EQA was the most popular car in grey, with 36.5% of units sold being this colour.
