The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class
Exterior Styling.
From the outside, the B-Class sits a world apart from its predecessor. The long wheelbase (2729mm) culminates in short overhangs. This is accompanied by a lowered roof line, low profile headlamps and larger (16 - 19 inch) wheels. This carries around to the rear where the new B-Class boasts a more refined figure - with the smooth contouring typical of a modern Mercedes-Benz. The smaller front profile isn't just aesthetically pleasing but also contributes to the new B-Class achieving best in its class for air flow - reducing cabin noise and the effects of crosswind.Uncompromising Practicality.
Despite being more compact in appearance, the new B-Class actually offers a more spacious interior both for passengers and cargo. Greater headroom and improved seat geometry allow the driver to sit a whole 90mm higher than in the new A-Class. Optimised cross pillars act to reduce blind spots and an improved central passage tunnel means the middle rear seat becomes both more accessible and comfortable. Boot capacity remains impressive: achieving 455 - 705 litres depending on where the seats are positioned. This increases to 1540 litres with the middle seats folded down completely. Besides seating position, the B-Class shares many of its internal features with the A-Class. This includes the dual screen display, the optional ambient lighting and the turbine-styled air vents. Touch control functionality is offered from the same three orientations: on the steering wheel, on the touch-screen displays and a unit on the central control panel. Mercedes-Benz's innovative multimedia system MBUX, as debuted in the A-Class, is also a leading feature within the B-Class. MBUX facilitates voice control of many functions within the vehicle with artificial intelligence that continually learns behaviour and preferences to heighten convenience. Optional extras that were previously exclusive to higher model segments are now available in the new B-Class. This includes features like seat climate control and multi-contour seats with massage function. This resonates when considering the driving assistance packages available, culminating in the B-Class achieving one of the highest levels of safety in its segment.All-new Engines.
The B-Class will be powered by a range of five new, increasingly efficient engines. All of which comply with the Euro 6d-TEMP limit:- B 180 (100 kW/136 hp, 200 Nm); with 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (combined fuel consumption 5.6-5.4 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 128-124 g/km)1
- B 200 (120 kW/163 hp, 250 Nm); with 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission (combined fuel consumption 5.6-5.4 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 129-124 g/km)1
