Plug-In Grant For smart
If you’re planning on buying a brand new electric smart, you can get a discount of up to £2,500 through a plug-in grant from The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). What is the plug-in car grant? The UK government has now announced that the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned from 2030, therefore the OZEV plug-in car grant is designed to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles sooner in order to meet this target. The grant provides a discount on the purchase price of a brand new eligible vehicle. The grant is applied at the time of purchase. Which vehicles are eligible? Both the smart EQ fortwo and smart EQ forfour models are included in this government scheme. This excludes all non-electric drive fortwo coupé, cabrio, forfour, and BRABUS Xclusive models. The grant amount can be applied to finance offers and is automatically deducted from the OTR price of the car at the time of purchase. When will the plug-in car grant end? There has been no official end date set for this grant yet, however changes in the last year have suggested this grant will begin to phase out sooner rather than later. If you are hoping to take advantage of this preferential grant it’s best to consider your options now.
