Money Saving Driving Tips
It’s no secret that we are living through a cost of living crisis. Let us give you some quick tips on how you can save money as a motorist.
1. Tyre and Alloy Insurance
Accidents happen to all of us, but Mercedes-Benz Tyre & Alloy Insurance provides cover for the cost of replacing or repairing your tyres. It also covers the replacement of your alloy wheel with a re-manufactured wheel as a result of accidental or malicious damage.
2. Adapt Your Driving Style
Did you know that vehicles are less efficient when they are cold? In the cold weather driving off as soon as you have started your engine can double your fuel /energy consumption and wear out your engine as your vehicle is working harder to do its job.
We all want to feel comfortable on our journeys and on a cold day it’s only natural to turn on your climate control, heated seats or heated steering wheel. When you are satisfied with the temperature in the cockpit remember to turn them off as they will speed up your fuel / energy consumption when switched on.
This one might sound obvious but keep your vehicle at a consistent pace using cruise control (if this is a feature on your vehicle). Your mile range will rapidly decrease when you’re putting the pedal to the metal!
If you own a hybrid or electric vehicle braking will push energy back into your vehicle’s battery giving you more range until you need to charge your vehicle, saving you some more pennies which all adds up! Make sure you look at your vehicle’s adjustable regenerative braking settings and make the most of your mile range.
3. Lose the Load
Is everything in your boot necessary? Extra weight in your vehicle means it’s working just that little bit harder, therefore again increasing your fuel /energy consumption. Making sure your car is free of clutter can work wonders for your mile range!
4. Check your tyre pressures
This is a simple check that most motorists don’t think about and it’s not always visible to the eye when your tyre pressure is low. According to the RAC “Tyres under inflated by 15psi can use 6% more fuel than on average, that’s the difference between averaging 40mpg and 42mpg. Or, to put it another way, an additional 26 miles from a 60-litre tank of fuel.”
5. Buy A Service Plan
If you buy a service plan with us we can ensure that your vehicle will be looked after by Mercedes-Benz specialist technicians with Mercedes-Benz genuine parts. The service plan price will be fixed through your entire contracted term, despite the inevitable rise in parts and labour.
6. Bumper
Mercedes-Benz South West is now a Bumper partner, so getting your vehicle repaired at one of our dealerships even easier. Bumper is an interest-free finance provider to help you spread the costs of repairs in one to six monthly installments, up to £5,000.
7. Free Roadside Assistance
