Meet The Team: Ruth Saunders
For this month’s Meet The Team, we’re at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter to meet Ruth Saunders. Ruth is part of our management team and heads up our Customer Service department as their Team Leader. Let’s learn a little bit more about Ruth and her experience working at Mercedes-Benz South West.
Interview Highlights
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as caring, determined and strong willed. My husband would probably say I’m just very Scottish.
What attracted you to a career with Mercedes-Benz South West?
I think initially it being a well-known and trusted brand, Mercedes-Benz. But I did my research and the ethos, culture and family-run feel at Mercedes-Benz South West was what made this job attractive to me.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite thing about my job is my team and the people in the business. I love nothing better than seeing people come in to the business and progress. I really like progression planning and seeing people succeed.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to get out in the countryside and get down to the coast. I have three very energetic boys, they also love to get outdoors. When we head out for a walk we always stop off for an iced coffee somewhere. However, recently I have been out training for the London Marathon, pounding the pavements in preparation.
What is your favourite thing about the South West?
My favourite thing about the South West has to be the coast and the summer weather. When I first moved down here, I saw a palm tree and I couldn’t believe my eyes, I didn’t expect to see one in the UK.
What is your favourite Mercedes-Benz model?
My favourite model is the GLB, I currently have one! It’s perfect for my lifestyle with three kids, it has lots of space, we pack it full of essentials and use it every day.
What’s a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about myself that everyone else seems to find interesting is that I’ve lived in Devon longer than I’ve ever lived in Scotland.
What is your favourite driving song?
My favourite diving song has to be Fast Car by Tracy Chapman!
