Meet the Team: Ian Harvey, LCV Business Development Manager
This month we meet a new member of the Mercedes-Benz South West team, Ian Harvey who has recently joined our Taunton dealership. With a wealth of industry experience, Ian joins us as a LCV Business Development Manager
Tell us a bit about yourself Ian: A happy husband and proud father of one, mountain bike aficionado and keen novice gardener. I love most outdoor activities, good food and foreign travel. I’ve previously worked in sales for Ford and Nissan in Taunton, Wellington and Birmingham
Where are you from? Taunton, I did have a 10 year sabbatical in Birmingham
How long have you been working at Mercedes-Benz South West? Just under a month. I started in March 2021
Favourite Mercedes-Benz model? (old or new) Mercedes Mclaren SLR
Most memorable day at work you’ve ever had? The day I sold my first car. It was a Ford Fiesta, 1.25i painted pepper red with a beige trim; I’d been in the job two days. That was about 19 years ago!
Have you always been in the motor trade? What did you do before? No, when I left school I went to college and completed a plumbing apprenticeship but always wanted to work with cars. A local dealer was advertising for sales staff in the paper so I applied and the rest is history
Favourite part of the job? Seeing a client driving away with a massive smile on their face knowing they are happy. Sounds cheesy but it always gives me a good feeling
What’s your favourite animal? Do you have any pets? I have one cat called Rabies (it’s a long story and shows my stubborn streak)
Best holiday you’ve ever been on? That’s a hard one, the Maldives was fantastic but the first holiday with my son has some of my best memories
How many attempts did it take you to pass your driving test? I passed first time Which radio station are you listening to when you drive? Radio X
Favourite place to visit in the South West? Wimbleball Lake with friends and family, a day of paddleboarding and kayaking in the sun with a BBQ and beers for lunch Favourite Film? Anything Disney that I can watch with my son
Favourite Band/Artist? Queen
First concert you ever went to? NOFX
Tipple of choice? Any good Caribbean Rum
What would be your Karaoke song? I’m tone deaf and wouldn’t want to subject anyone to my singing
If the world ends tomorrow, what would you choose as your last meal? A nice thick steak, medium rare, cooked in garlic butter, chunky chips, corn on the cob and garlic bread on the side
What’s at the top of your bucket list? A mountain biking trip with the lads to Morzine & Les Gets in France
What are you most looking forward to this year? Seeing the back of Covid and being able to get out and enjoy time with friends and family
Finally… Jam then cream, or cream then jam? Cream then jam, I’m not a monster!
