The new Mercedes-Benz CLA: what we know so far
Mercedes-Benz CLA range and charging
The Concept CLA Class boasts a next-generation drivetrain with a range of over 750 kilometers (466 miles) and an energy consumption of around 12 kWh/100 km (5.2 mi/kWh). It features an 800 V system for high electric efficiency and rapid charging, capable of adding up to 400 kilometers (248 miles) in just 15 minutes.
Mercedes-Benz CLA interior and exterior design
The exterior design includes low-energy LED lights with an animated star pattern and an expansive glass roof, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. It features some powerful wheel arches with 21-inch alloy wheels that are covered in the same stunning star pattern.
The MMA platform significantly reduces the value-chain CO2 emissions by over 40%. The Concept CLA Class uses sustainable materials, including almost CO2-free steel and CO2-reduced aluminium. The interior has been crafted using bamboo fibre, bio-technology-based fabric, recycled plastics, and sustainably produced and processed nappa leather.
Mercedes-Benz CLA Technology
The Mercedes-Benz Operating System leverages supercomputing and artificial intelligence to offer unparalleled personalisation, safety, and convenience. The system includes a sophisticated Child Presence Detection (CPD) feature to prevent young children from being accidentally left in the vehicle.
Markus Schäfer, Chief Technology Officer, highlighted the innovative technology underpinning the Concept CLA Class, including the 800 V electric-drive system and advanced battery cell chemistry. This technology ensures excellent energy density and maximised efficiency, setting a new standard for performance, sustainability, safety, and comfort in the electric vehicle market.
