Half Term Things To Do in Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset
It’s time to start lining up those half term plans and get out and about around the South West. We’ve put together our pick of activities that are fun for the whole family!
Cornwall
Cornish Seal Sanctuary
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates grey seal pup from the Cornish coastline. When visiting, you can get all up close and personal with the cute marine creatures and learn about all their stories. It costs £22.99 for an adult, £19.99 for a child, or £77 for a family of four.
Adrenalin Quarry
For those thrill seekers out there, Cornwall’s Adrenalin Quarry is a giant inflatable playground on the water. Other activities at the aqua park include zip wiring across the water, go karting and a giant swing!
Lost Gardens of Heligan:
200 acres of historical gardens, the Lost Gardens of Heligan are considered the finest in England. There’s plenty to see and do for the whole family to spend a day exploring the estate and its grounds. Dog are also welcome to the gardens all year round.
Roskilly’s:
A working farm at the southern tip of Cornwall, Roskilly’s is somewhere the whole family can enjoy. Say hello to the animals, take in the local walks and enjoy some of the ice cream that is made on site and served at the parlour. If ice cream isn’t for you, they also offer milkshakes!
Devon
National Marine Aquarium
Located in Britain’s Ocean City, Plymouth, the National Marine Aquarium is home to over 4,000 animals. Take a journey around the different zones of the world’s oceans from the local waters all the way to the tropical seas of the Great Barrier Reef.
Paignton Zoo
You could have a wild day out when visiting Paignton Zoo! It's home to over 2000 animals, such as giraffes, lions, monkeys, and lots more. They even offer animal experiences if you want to get a lot closer to the animals on your visit.
Quince Honey Farm:
One of Britain’s leading honey farms, Quince Honey Farm is a family run attraction in South Molton. Discover the journey from hive to jar on one of their guided tours, make beautiful beeswax candles or try your hand at a bit of beekeeping to get a bit closer to the action
River Dart Country Park:
Set within Dartmoor National Park, River Dart Country Park is packed with adventures for a family day out. There is a commando assault course for the big kids and a toddlers’ beach and playground for the smaller ones. There are also camping facilities available for those who want to make a few days of it.
Somerset
Flip Out Somerset:
Should the weather not be in our favour, try Flip Out Somerset! Based in Taunton, you’ll find wall to wall trampolines and plenty of big smiles, a trip to the trampoline park will keep the kids occupied for a while.
Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre:
Located in Vivary Park in Taunton, there's something for the whole family at Vivary Golf and Adventure Centre. Activities available include low ropes and high ropes, a climbing wall and mini golf with a cafe on site too to cover a full fun day out.
Wookey Hole Caves & Attractions:
If you're looking for an exciting day out in Somerset, you need to visit Wookey Hole Caves. There's some breathtaking caves to explore, but there's lots of indoor and outdoor attractions too. From adventure golf to an arcade to soft play, there's lots to do! It costs £24 for an adult day ticket and £19 for a child.
