Charities We Supported In 2022

As many of you already know, at Mercedes-Benz South West we pride ourselves in giving back to our local communities across the region. In 2022 we raised a whopping total of £15,302.74 for charity, so we’re taking a look back at some of our fundraising highlights.
FORCE Cancer Charity
FORCE Cancer Charity is a local support network close to our hearts, as we lost our much loved colleague, Hayley Barrett after a hard battle with cancer in 2020. FORCE supported Hayley throughout her battle and this year we have organised a few fundraising events to aid their mission.
This year we held two bake sales, continued to run our staff tuck shop and Mercedes-Benz of Exeter went head to head with Tangelo in a football match, overall we raised £473.42 for FORCE!
Ukraine
It has now been nearly a year since the conflict in Ukraine escalated and millions of people no longer have a safe place to call home. We wanted to support the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal so we donated £5000 (a third of our Charity support fund) towards clean water, healthcare services, hygiene kits and food aid for those who are suffering in Ukraine.
Fill Your Boot – St Petrocs and Exeter, Plymouth and Taunton Foodbank.
We wanted to help out those less fortunate at a very special time of year, Christmas. So our staff at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter, Taunton, Plymouth, Truro and our Online Team kindly rallied round gathering essential supplies for their local foodbanks and charities, filling the boot of a GLC!
72 Plate Release
To celebrate the release of the 72 plate in September, we asked our customers to pick a local charity to donate to on their behalf, we had one charity per site and they were:
- Mercedes-Benz of Truro - Cornwall Air Ambulance
- Mercedes-Benz of Taunton – St Margaret’s Hospice
- Mercedes-Benz of Plymouth - Cancer Research
- Mercedes-Benz of Exeter – Exeter Foodbank
Christmas Jumper Day
Our staff across the South West made a fantastic effort for Christmas Jumper Day 2022 in aid of Save the Children UK! Well done team.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Our staff at Mercedes-Benz Online Team raised just under £200 with their bake sale and dress down day in October for Macmillan!
Christmas Sparkle Project
The team at Mercedes-Benz of Taunton, who have worked very hard to support the Christmas Sparkle Project! Toni our Service Team Manager, has put in a tremendous effort raising a total of £522 with the support of MBSW!
“I’d like to thank you and your kind-hearted colleagues for the lovely toy donations that you made ( very quietly too! ) Your support has been invaluable this year as we had a 47% increase in requests for gifts. Thanks to the kindness of people like you in the local community, we were able to give over 8,000 items to 2,260 children and young people who would otherwise have had nothing or very little.”
