Blue Monday: Our Top Tips
When is Blue Monday 2025?
Blue Monday falls on Monday 20th January in 2025.
What is Blue Monday?
Blue Monday is said to be the most depressing day of the year.
It takes into account the gloomy weather we usually experience, low motivation levels, and post-holiday blues, causing us to feel down.
How to beat Blue Monday
1. Reach out to friends and family
Alone time is definitely important, but it’s also important to stay positive and not feel lonely, so make sure you reach out to your friends and family, even if it’s just a simple text or a call.
2. Practise self-care
Why not treat yourself to a pamper session? Putting on a face mask can immediately make you feel more relaxed. Self-care doesn’t have to be about beauty though. You could read a book, listen to a podcast or watch your favourite TV show.
3. Get creative
Doing an activity is the perfect way to get you focused on something. Book in a pottery painting session, buy yourself a crochet kit, or you could even get a colouring book.
4. Exercise
Whether you want to go for a run, a walk, or a swim, incorporating some exercise into your day can make all the difference.
However, the idea of heading out into the cold may not be appealing to some, so you could always see if there are any fitness classes at your local leisure centre. That could be calming yoga, some difficult core conditioning, or a boxing session.
5. Book or plan a holiday
Planning a holiday is a great way of having something to look forward to because you know that you’re going to have a break from everyday life sometime soon.
Whether you’re craving some luscious hot weather or you simply want a staycation in the UK, book that holiday!#
6. Eat some good food
Try to ditch the junk food and cook up some good food for yourself. Eating something healthier can make you feel better on a mental level and will also help you feel more energised throughout the day.
7. Meditate
If you’ve never tried meditating, you should try it out. Meditating is a way of practicing mindfulness which means that you get the space to think about thoughts and feelings which can help you understand what’s going on around you – as this isn’t always clear if you’re in the wrong head space.
